When on the lovely islands of Madagascar, there will be no shortage of activities for you to enjoy. The perfect climate, culture and resources make Madagascar an ideal place to do some hiking, walking, swimming, snorkelling, diving or fishing.
The islands of Madagascar were for a long time cut off by the African Mainland and have during this time produced a natural heaven on earth. The Islands are teeming with interesting wildlife just waiting to be explored, small islands with coral reefs, and clear warm waters begging for you to swim.
The forests and lush green landscape make for ideal walking or trekking opportunities. The flowers and plants you discover along the way can be found on no other place on earth, and one you reach the summit of the mountains, you are rewarded with a picture perfect view which will take your breath away.
One of the most enjoyable and rewarding activities in Madagascar is diving in the coral reefs. The underwater life is sensational and offers you a different view on Madagascar water life. The unusual and sometime downright ugly fish are entertaining to catch as they swim passed with their gormless expressions. One of the best places to enjoy a spot of diving on the island of Nosy Be and the smaller surrounding islands here.
Snorkelling is another common pass time for you to take pleasure in while on holiday in Madagascar. Even with the environmental stresses on the coral reefs, snorkelling and diving in Madagascar can not be beaten. Again the best place to experience some top notch snorkelling and diving is in and around the islands of Nosy Be. The clear warm waters are very welcoming and rewarding to visit.
For the keen outdoor enthusiast, then a spot of cycling round the islands is a great way for you to see the many sights and places of interest. Although some of the roads can be fairly rugged, so make sure you take care when cycling the more rocky parts of the island. You can either bring your own mountain bike or rent one when you get to Madagascar. It might be more practical to hire a good mountain bike when you get to Madagascar as the added strain of getting a bike from place to place (and especially on a plane) are not really worth the stress.
Whale watching is another growing activity in Madagascar. The opportunity to witness whales in their natural environment is a dream come true and an experience you will never forget. The best place to go for whale watching is in south Madagascar and in the west coast of Ile Sainte Marie.
The last of the main activities but by no means the least enjoyable is trekking. The mountainous regions of Madagascar are perfect for a great walk or trek. Many of the national parks have guided walks and treks for you to go on and are perfect for exploring parts of Madagascar you wouldn?t normally see. You also have the added security of not getting lost!
